Peter Murray

murray

Peter Murray grew up in the Industrial North and entered the teaching profession at the age of thirty. Since then he has never looked back and his pupils have provided inspiration for his passion of writing and telling stories, often in school assemblies.

He moved to the South just over ten years ago and is currently Assistant Headmaster of Cheam School, reputedly the oldest preparatory school in the country (1645). Cheam is also famous for its Royal connections - Prince Charles and his father before him were both schooled there.

Peter has always enjoyed entertaining children with stories and games, and one of his nieces recently recalled an upgraded game of Hide and Seek involving a sinister character called Mokee Joe. The fact that this invented name had stood the test of time and had stuck in her memory for fifteen years (she is now 22) inspired Peter to recreate his spooky character within a novel.

Family and school have been instrumental in helping put the book together. A parent (a professional artist who paints race horses for a living) painted the cover design; Pete's son, Simon, provided the illustrations for the chapter headings; Cheam pupils acted as consultants in ensuring authenticity of characters in the narrative and Eve White, of T.V's Hollyoaks fame, is currently acting as Pete's agent.
