Lynne Chapman

Lynne Chapman

It was Lynne's grandfather, a restoration artist who specialised in the ornately painted ceilings of royal palaces and stately homes, who originally inspired her passion for painting. Lynne has been a freelance illustrator for 20 years but it was only recently she answered her calling and began to illustrate children's books. Lynne not only loves illustrating for children, but also thoroughly enjoys doing workshops and storytellings with them.

Lynne has illustrated books by Miriam Ross, Ann Jugman and Terry Deary, amongst others, but it was her collaboration with Jamie Rix, her first for Orchard Books, that brought us the delightful Giddy Goat. Lynne's humorously beautiful, pastel illustrations bring to life Giddy, the goat who lives on top of a rocky mountain but has no head for heights. It is only when he finds a lost lamb that Giddy becomes determined to find the fearless goat inside himself!

Lynne loves to fill her sketchbooks at every opportunity. She lives with her husband in Sheffield.
