After studying English and Drama at Manchester University, Julia Jarman became a teacher. Her three children encouraged her to write for them, "about real characters like us" The girls asked for "lots of scary bits". Her three cats were also an influence and inspired her Time Travelling Cat series.

Julia has been writing for over fifteen years. She has written ten novels and over seventy shorter books, Kangaroo's Cancan Café, Julia's first picture book for Orchard Books is the fast-paced tale of Kangaroo's quest to set up his own café in the Australian outback. Big Red Bath, illustrated by Adrian Reynolds, is Julia's latest picture book. In it you will discover that bath times have never been so much fun!
