This summer, children from all over North Tyneside are being challenged to read and get active by joining Team Read at their local library.
Team Read is North Tyneside Libraries 10th annual Summer Reading Challenge and all children are invited to take part. The Summer Reading Challenge organised by the Reading Agency, is encouraging children to make the most of the long summer break by reading and keeping active by paying a visit to their local library.
This year the challenge has a sports theme, linking into the Beijing Olympics and the start of the 2008 - 2009 football season.Throughout the summer there's over a 100 free events in libraries, community centres and parks across the borough.
The challenge kicks off with the Opening Ceremony at Tynemouth Priory on Tuesday 22 July - a fun day of sporting activities for children.
Also watch out for Team Read Tuesdays, family fun days at the John Willie Sams Centre in Dudley, Churchill Playing Fields in Whitley Bay and Richardson Dees Park in Wallsend. Ask at your local library for a details of all events.
You don't have to be a sports fanatic to take part in the Team Read, its all about the joy of reading and completing the challenge with achievable targets along the way.
