STEWART HENDERSON is a poet, songwriter and broadcaster. He has been writing poems since he was a teenager in Liverpool and hasn’t stopped yet. As a poet, The Sunday Times described his children’s poetry as ‘essential reading’.

Widely anthologized through Macmillan, Oxford University Press and Bloomsbury, Stewart’s verse is set for both GCSE and Key Stages in primary schools in the UK and its equivalent on the Republic of Ireland curriculum.

His best-selling solo collections – published by Lion Children’s Books – Who Left Grandad at the Chip Shop and All Things Weird and Wonderful have seen him become a festival favourite at the Edinburgh Book Festival, Birmingham Young Readers UK, Greenbelt and The Northern Children’s Book Festival.

Besides writing poetry, Stewart’s song writing partnership over the past 15 years with Martyn Joseph has established a canon of work, which has drawn glowing reviews in the USA and Canada.

As a regular broadcaster on BBC Radio 4, Stewart has presented Questions Questions for 4 years, as well as contributing to a number of social and narrative documentaries for the network. Stewart has been nominated for a Sony Award, and in October 2006 he was presented with the Jerusalem Radio Award for his BBC Radio 4 programme, The Holy Fire.

'Good-humoured thoughtful poems with a mix of the silly and the serious.'

Another collection of quirky, thought-provoking and highly entertaining poems from a performance poet with an increasing fan base.

In this collection, Stewart Henderson looks at creation in its broadest sense from the depths of the sea, to the breadth of the earth, and the realms of space and sky. The poems feature many aspects of the plant and animal world both real and imaginary. The poems are often shown from the perspective of a child (answering curious questions, or helping him or her to understand more about his/her place in the universe).
