North Tyneside Council has organised the free event, which is on Saturday, June 9, from 1pm and 3.30pm and celebrates World Ocean Day.

Library members aged between five and 12 are invited to dress up like pirates and enjoy an afternoon of crafts, games and a treasure hunt.

Storyteller Gary Cordingley will entertain youngsters with pirate tales. There will also be a prize for the best-dressed pirate.

Places are limited and must be pre-booked. For more information contact Wallsend Library, TEL: 200 6968.
